I would first like to wish you all a Happy New Year! 2006 is the Year of the Dog in the Chinese calendar. According to Chinese astrology, the main attributes of the Dog are loyalty and faithfulness, and people born under the sign of the Dog are most compatible with the Tiger and the Horse. As we start the New Year, I would like to announce that the Guang Ping Yang T’ai Chi Association is initiating a new campaign to benefit its members in order to both spiritually and physically enhance their practice and teaching skills. Specifically, in the upcoming months you will see more opportunities arise as we offer more training workshops. As your President, I am currently planning to visit t’ai chi teachers and schools to help provide the skills for better internal connection of mind and body to your own training. I also plan to share my knowledge of school operation and how to create an environment of encouragement and support for your students. If you are interested in having a workshop

please don’t hesitate to contact me via the Guang Ping Yang T’ai Chi Association website or e-mail at Peterkwok@aol.com.

Also, beginning with this newsletter, you will see a slight change in the format and frequency of publication. This necessary change reflects the unfortunate reality of rising costs of producing and mailing newsletters without having to pass on the added expense to our members. We are now planning to publish a somewhat more compact newsletter every two months rather than quarterly, via the internet or hard copy, whichever you prefer.

And, just a reminder—This year is GPYTCA’s tenth anniversary! For this year’s conference we are planning a special program with more emphasis on workshops for those members with less t’ai chi experience and also a selection of topics for those who are more advanced. So mark your calendar for the 2006 West Coast Conference on September 15, 16, and 17 in Lake San Marcos, CA. We look forward to seeing you all.

Finally, please note that your 2006 membership renewals are now due. Renewals can be made by mailing a check to Julie Li, our Membership Coordinator. Please take the time to renew your membership today.

Sincerely,
Randy Elia
