Introduction to Guang Ping Yang Practitioners Around The Country

One of the purposes of our Newsletter is to introduce to our members the teachers and schools that are teaching in the style of Guang Ping Yang Tai Chi.

As the family tree grows among practitioners of our style, it is important to trace the roots of the various branches. The Peter Kwok Kung Fu Academy of New Jersey was established by Peter Kwok in the early 1970's.

Dr. Kwok, who was born in China, began learning the fighting skills and breathing techniques of the Shaolin monks at the age of 7. While still in Taiwan, he studied with Kuo Lien Ying in the early 1950's and was a senior classmate with Y. C. Chiang. After coming to America he opened his own Kung, Fu academy in New Jersey, emphasizing the martial application of Guang Ping by introducing the prearranged push hand sets along with the 2-man combat form. He later authored one of the earliest English transcriptions of ancient Chinese knowledge in his book, The Secret Health Teachings of the Shaolin Priests.

Under Dr. Kwok's tutelage Randy Elia was certified as an instructor in 1979, and upon Dr. Kwok's return to Taiwan was given the responsibility to continue the school. Randy Elia has also trained under Dr. Y. C. Chiang.

He is certified with the Martial Arts of China Historical Society.

Randy is also a licensed massage therapist specializing in Tui Na, acupressure, and deep tissue massage.
