The Wen Wu School was founded in Berkeley, CA, in 1973 by Dr. Yun Chung Chiang. The school teaches martial arts, qigong, medicine, philosophy, and art. The goal of the school is to promote traditional Chinese culture so that students will attain good health and longevity. Virtue and character building are taught in accordance with the "four classical texts" of the Confucian school. Dr. Chiang teaches seven martial arts programs: traditional Guang Ping Yang Style Tai Chi, Shaolin Kung Fu, Ryu He Chuan (white crane), Hsing I, Pa Kua, weapons, and standing meditation. Before coming to the U.S., Dr. Chiang taught at Chien Kuo Middle School and Ming Chuan College. Dr. Chiang also teaches Chinese art and calligraphy. In 1973, Dr. Chiang opened the Chung Hua (Chinese) Clinic within Wen Wu School. Treatments include acupuncture and herbal medicine. The clinic is also managed by Dr. Erlene Chiang. Since its opening, the clinic has treated over 3,000 patients. Since 1972, the Wen Wu School has taught over 5,000 students, without any discrimination to race, creed, age, national origin, sexual orientation or disability.
